How a new search tool will help Florida homebuilders

It goes without saying that the decision to purchase a home is never easy. Prospective buyers will often spend weeks — or even months — touring seemingly endless homes with their real estate agents in search of what they believe to be the perfect fit. While this approach is effective, it can nevertheless serve to overlook the myriad options presented by homes under construction.

This may soon change, however, as My Florida Regional MLS, the largest multiple listing service in the Sunshine State, will soon be expanding its services to enable its 33,000-plus subscribers to access information on both homes under construction and spec homes, as well as the sites of future home development.

This new tool, which will enable licensed real estate agents to view and share the specs for new homes in over 550 subdivisions and 2,800 floor plans, was created through a joint venture with a Texas-based firm.

Set to launch this fall, this new construction search tool will not only give homebuyers more options, but also facilitate faster turnaround times for area home builders.

It is worth noting that the construction sector here in Florida has seen tremendous growth as of late. Indeed, a recent report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Market Statistics found that the state’s construction industry has been the fastest growing sector, consistently adding more jobs.

In light of our state’s improving construction industry and the otherwise favorable conditions for homebuilding, it’s imperative that companies take steps to ensure that their operations are able to run smoothly and without interruption in the event of a legal dispute
